Founded in 1992 in the heart of Haines City just off of Highway 27 is Southern Dunes Golf Community. Although well known for its world class golf course Southern Dunes also contains hundreds of homes that fit a variety of preferences and budgets.
Based on my observation Southern Dunes currently consists mostly of investment owners. Most properties are leased under short-term management allowing owners to also occupy the home as desired and make money in between.
With current increases in tourism to the Central Florida area the demand for short term rentals also continues to grow. With this growth has also come new construction. As newer and updated communities arrive some owners have found it to be in their best interest to lease their Southern Dunes home out as a long-term rental.
As time goes on there has also been an increase in the amount of homes being used as a primary residence in Southern Dunes. This community is walking distance to a 24 hour Wal-Mart, Winn-Dixie, and Big Lots. Southern Dunes is also very close to some of Haines City’s best restaurants including La Fiesta Mexicana and Manny’s Original Chophouse.
